Effect of expanded glass particle size on compressive properties of vinyl ester syntactic foams

چکیده

The most common fillers for syntactic foam development are glass microballoons or fly ash cenospheres. However, the need improved properties and reduced cost requires exploring other possibilities. In this work, foams of vinyl ester resin reinforced with expanded particles (EG) were fabricated compressive composites studied. EGS was smaller size 0.04–0.125 mm in 15, 30, 45 vol.% EGL had larger 0.25–0.5 15 30 vol.%. Compression testing reveals that enhance modulus by up to 48% a 3.4% reduction yield strength compared neat resin. Strain rate sensitivity observed both values all composites. Composite filler showed better than at 0.01 s?1 strain rate, which is an overall improvement material. When literature data, made present work have highest same density.

Controlled Shrinkage of Expanded Glass Particles in Metal Syntactic Foams

Metal matrix syntactic foams have been fabricated via counter-gravity infiltration of a packed bed of recycled expanded glass particles (EG) with A356 aluminum alloy. Particle shrinkage was studied and has been utilized to increase the particles' strength and tailor the mechanical properties of the expanded glass/metal syntactic foam (EG-MSF). The crushing strength of particles could be doubled...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Effect of Micro Glass Flake on Morphological and Rheological Behaviour of Epoxy Vinyl Ester Composite Coatings

In the present work, attempts were made to investigate the reinforcement and treatment effect of GF on morphological and rheological behaviour of GF/epoxy vinyl ester composites. GF was incorporated into epoxy vinyl ester resin by sonication, and mechanical agitation. Rheological and morphological properties were studied as a function of particle treatment and size distributions. The dispersion...

Structure and Compressive Properties of Invar-Cenosphere Syntactic Foams

The present study investigates the mechanical performance of syntactic foams produced by means of the metal powder injection molding process having an Invar (FeNi36) matrix and including cenospheres as hollow particles at weight fractions (wt.%) of 5 and 10, respectively, corresponding to approximately 41.6 and 60.0 vol.% in relation to the metal content and at 0.6 g/cm³ hollow particle density...
